Have a fantastic summer of tennis.

Coming up on Sunday 5th March there will be a fun and social tournament using the "Davis Cup" format, starting at 1pm. Teams will be captained by Committee Members, Nev and Liz, who will battle it out over the 2 hours of matches arranged by Head Coach José. You can expect mens, ladies and mixed doubles for all standards of play! No advanced sign-up is required, but please arrive early to be allocated to your team.

Following the tournament there will be a fabulous cream tea, with scones and jam alongside some Prosecco, and of course, tea and coffee. At 3pm the Annual General Meeting will take place. We hope to see you there!

  • Monday 2nd January – Bank Holiday American Tournament. Take advantage of the extra day before you go back to work to enjoy some fun and friendly festive-themed tennis.
  • Sunday 5th March – AGM & Fun Tournament. This year we'll be running a "Davis Cup" format tournament—with players of all levels competing against each other in two teams—prior to the formal meeting.
  • Saturday 9th September – Finals Day

Our annual Club Championships culminates with Finals Day, this year on Saturday 3rd September. Come and watch some great tennis, support your friends and relax with some drinks (BYO) and buffet food.

The first match will begin promptly at 11am, and will again this year be officiated by LTA-supplied Umpires. The Order of Play will be published nearer the time once all the finalists have been confirmed.

There will be a barbecue during the afternoon, £5 or bring a food donation (sweet or savoury), and BYO drinks. If you fancy playing a social set as well as watching, social tennis will be available on courts 4 & 5 but please note that courts 1–3 will not be available for play during the finals.

We hope you can join us for what is always a tennis and social highlight of the Club calendar–for a taste of the afternoon, check out the photos from last year.

To celebrate the Bank Holiday weekend we will be hosting a fun and social tournament on Sunday 5th June from 2pm until about 5pm. There are just 24 places available and previous events have sold out so please sign up online using your ClubSpark account by 6pm on Thursday so we can do a draw.

The theme this time will be the Platinum Jubilee so please bring a cake or other Jubilee-themed food to share, and of course a refreshing beverage (you can store these in the clubhouse fridges during the tennis). Union Flag coloured tennis clothes are also encouraged; regal headwear optional!

An American tournament is a fun way to play doubles with a variety of different partners and opponents over the course of an afternoon. Each player keeps track of the number of individual games he or she has won in each set and the winner is the person who has won the most games at the end of the day. It is a great introduction to social tennis for newcomers to the club, or those improvers who want to try out their new skills at a club session. For regular club social players it is a fun alternative to the usual tennis format.

After some close-fought matches throughout the summer, the Club Championships culminates with Finals Day. Come and watch some great tennis, support your friends and relax with some drinks (BYO) and buffet food.

The first match, the Mens Singles Final, will begin at 11am, followed by the Ladies Singles, Mens Doubles, Ladies Doubles and culminating with the Mixed Doubles. For the first time this year, we have arranged through the LTA to have a qualified Umpire in the chair for all 5 matches!

There will be a barbecue during the afternoon, £5 or bring a food donation (sweet or savoury!) BYO drinks. If you fancy playing a social set as well as watching, social tennis will be available on courts 4 & 5 but please note that courts 1–3 will not be available for play during the finals.

We hope you can join us for what is always a tennis and social highlight of the Club calendar.

Our latest newsletter went out to all current Senior and older Junior members via email last Friday with details of some upcoming events, including a Ladies Tennis Evening, Coach-led Social on 1st May and information on how to sign up for our Club Championships and Singles Box league. If you are a member but did not receive it, please check your spam folder and that your membership was successfully renewed in ClubSpark.

Other dates for your diary include the Junior Club Championships on Saturday 12th June (so no Senior Social tennis that day), and Senior Finals Day on Saturday 4th September. We also hope to be able to run some of our regular events, for example American Tournaments, later in the summer.

This coming Saturday, 5th September, is the conclusion of the Club Championships. Normally the highlight of the Club's social calendar, we are unable to put on the usual barbecue and sumptuous buffet, but please do come along to support your fellow members and enjoy some fine tennis.

Play will begin at 1pm with the Ladies' Doubles Final, followed by the Men's Doubles and concluding with the Mixed Doubles. Volunteers for line judges are very welcome, this is a particular treat for the players being able to concentrate on playing and not call their own lines!

Please bring your own picnic food and drinks. Tea and coffee will be available but it will be served by a Committee member, there will be no access to the kitchen. Please also bring an umbrella in case of rain showers, there is limited space in the clubhouse for sheltering and priority will be given to players.

We ask that all attendees use the sign in/out sheets at the gate so we have a record for Test & Trace, and masks are recommended for spectators.
