It was fantastic to see so many members and supporters at our annual Finals Day on Saturday 9th September 2023 which turned out to be one of the hottest days of the summer at 33C. The tennis was high quality, enjoyable to watch and played in a lovely spirit of friendly competition, and everyone was sustained by our fantastic barbecue. Thank you to everyone who brought a dish or helped organise the event. The results were:
Ladies' Singles: Antonina Attwood beat Stephanie Lee 6-3 4-6 [10-3]
Mens' Singles: Sean Fynn beat Aaron Hotfelder 7-6(1) 6-2
This year's PYWTW area finals tournament was hosted at Purley Tennis Club in late June 2023. Well done to both our RPRLTC Mens Doubles pair (James Baybutt & Ed Frain) and our Ladies Doubles pair (Rachel Pearson & Sarah Lawrence-Taylor) who made it through the Saturday knock out/ QF stages. Both pairs returned on the Sunday and faced stiff competition, eventually getting knocked out at the semi-final stage. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable and great experience!
In addition many thanks to James Smyth and Pratheek Reddy who stepped in at the last minute to represent the club in the 18&U Boys Doubles, and good luck to Heidi Young and Oliver Scott who are both competing in the 14&U singles next weekend
Finally a big thank you to Sarah Lawrence-Taylor for registering and entering our RPRLTC teams. There's always next year!
Coming up on Sunday 5th March there will be a fun and social tournament using the "Davis Cup" format, starting at 1pm. You can expect mens, ladies and mixed doubles for all standards of play! No advanced sign-up is required, but please arrive early to be allocated to your team.
Following the tournament there will be a fabulous cream tea, with scones and jam alongside some Prosecco, and of course, tea and coffee. At 3pm the Annual General Meeting will take place. We hope to see you there!
