Coming up on Sunday 5th March there will be a fun and social tournament using the "Davis Cup" format, starting at 1pm. Teams will be captained by Committee Members, Nev and Liz, who will battle it out over the 2 hours of matches arranged by Head Coach José. You can expect mens, ladies and mixed doubles for all standards of play! No advanced sign-up is required, but please arrive early to be allocated to your team.

Following the tournament there will be a fabulous cream tea, with scones and jam alongside some Prosecco, and of course, tea and coffee. At 3pm the Annual General Meeting will take place. We hope to see you there!

All Senior, Student and Parent/Guardian Members are warmly invited to join us at 1:30pm on Sunday 1st March for coach-led social with José, followed by the Club's Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 3:30pm. Refreshments of cheese and wine (and alternative drinks) will be available to make it an enjoyable social occasion.

We will aim to keep the formal business of the meeting as brief as possible, and it will include an opportunity for Q&A with the Committee and Head Coach.
We hope as many members as possible can join us to celebrate the start of the new tennis season on what is always a very sociable occasion.

Coach-led social will be 8 days later than usual in March to coincide with the Club's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday 10th March.

José will kick off coach-led social at 1.30pm, and then the AGM will follow at 3pm. Refreshments of cheese and wine (and alternative drinks) will be available to make it an enjoyable social occasion.

The AGM generally lasts for about 45 minutes. It gives you the opportunity to hear what has been happening at the club in the last 12 months, and how your subscription money has been spent!

You will also find out what is planned for the next year, you can ask questions of the Committee members, and get to know your fellow members over a glass of wine or beer.

All Senior, Student and Parent-Guardian Members are invited to put forward their name to serve on the Club Committee for 2019/2010, in one or more of the following roles:

  • Chairperson
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Men’s Team Manager
  • Ladies’ Team Manager
  • Welfare Officer
  • Committee Member

Nominations should be proposed by two other Members and posted into the suggestions box in the clubhouse by 17th February.

If you wish to put forward a formal proposition to be discussed at the meeting, then please find a seconder who is willing to support your proposition. The proposed motion along with your name and the name of the seconder should then be received by the Secretary no later than 17th February.

After three days of significant snow that had brought much of the country to a halt, we were very pleased to see the courts clear and ready for our members to play some social tennis! Afterwards the Committee updated those Members present on what had been happening around the Club for the last year, and prospective developments ahead. The Meeting appointed a new Committee for 2018/2019, and approved some minor changes to the Club Rules. Finally we rounded off the afternoon with wine and delicious cheese-y nibbles. Thank you to everyone who came along!

  • Friday 23rd February: last date to opt-in to the club's Wimbledon ballot. See details below.
  • Wednesday 28th February: last date to play second round matches in the Winter Handicap and Plate Doubles tournaments.
  • Sunday 4th March: American Social at 1:30pm, followed by our AGM with cheese & wine at 4pm. Please do consider running for a place on the committee to help the club continue to thrive and be a great place for our members to play tennis.
  • Sunday 11th March: last date to play matches in the current round of the Singles Box League.

Later on in the year we will be hosting our annual Wimbledon tickets ballot. To qualify for a chance to buy tickets for this year's Championships at the AELTC, you need to login to the LTA members area and select the Wimbledon Ballot option. Even if you did this last year you must do it again this year to qualify. Juniors aged 11 and over are also eligible but each one must be opted-in individually. Not an LTA member? As a member of an affiliated venue you can join for free. The LTA make the paid-for option far more prominent than the free one so make sure you select "Lite Membership" [sic].

Following the granting of planning permission for the redevelopment of the LESSA sports ground, in October 2009, the site has recently been sold to Bellways. It is understood that it is Bellways intention to implement the scheme which has been granted permission, and to respect the obligations which were entered into by the previous owners. These obligations include the offer of new tennis facilities to the Raynes Park Tennis Club, including 5 new tennis courts, and a new clubhouse. Over the coming months the club will be considering the pros and cons of a move and will be seeking the views of Club members.

More information will be posted here and in the newsletter as it becomes available.
