Tennis Box League 15 May-17 July
Congratulations to David who won this summer's League 1 (see attached). And to Nigel who won League 2, and is promoted to the higher echelons of League 1!
The re-introduction of a Singles League seemed to be successful with the vast majority of matches played so well done all who participated.
The next round will begin shortly so please let me know (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you wish to participate. All standards welcome.
Despite the dreadful weather forecast all matches were completed with only one (lengthy) rain delay. The champions for 2011 are:
- Ladies singles - Saidhanya
- Men's singles - Dishan
- Juniors - Huw and Charlie
- Ladies doubles - Saidhanya and Lucy
- Men's doubles - Dishan and Peter
- Mixed doubles - Saidhanya and Neville
May 8: Div W East: Grafton (4ths) 1 - 3 Raynes Park (2nds - Nev,Peter,Antony,Adam)
A tight dramatic match, which could have gone either way, was won by RP when Antony and Adam won the last match in a deciding Championship tiebreak. Earlier Nev and Peter won both their matches. Well done all.
Sarah & Neville won 6-2, 6-2 vs Lucy & Steven
One black eye, a dodgy calf , broken strings and some good tennis were served up to several hardy spectators on Monday night. Despite Lucy's warming up accident and Steve's calf strain, they put up a spirited performance but in the end Sarah and Neville prevailed, the key moment being Sarah's game-winning string-busting volley mid way through the second set!
Many thanks to Sarah for organising a successful tournament and to all it's participants.
Congratulations to the mens second team who achieved a fine 3-1 victory over Dulwich in their inaugural Home Match on Sunday 20th June.
