  • Monday 2nd January – Bank Holiday American Tournament. Take advantage of the extra day before you go back to work to enjoy some fun and friendly festive-themed tennis.
  • Sunday 5th March – AGM & Fun Tournament. This year we'll be running a "Davis Cup" format tournament—with players of all levels competing against each other in two teams—prior to the formal meeting.
  • Saturday 9th September – Finals Day

After a three year COVID-hiatus, our quiz night is back on Saturday 19th November at 7:15pm in the Clubhouse. Quiz Master Keith will pose a range of general knowledge questions to teams of 6, while you enjoy a delicious dinner of chilli with jacket potato (meat or vegan options available) and BYO drinks. You can enter as a pre-arranged team, but on previous occasions most people have formed their team on arrival so just sign up and join the fun!

The cost for this fabulous night of entertainment with your fellow members and their guests is just £12 per-person, including the dinner. We have limited space in the clubhouse so advance sign-up is essential: please refer to the recent email newsletter, or posters in the clubhouse, for details. Non-member guests are very welcome.

It was fantastic to see so many members and supporters at our annual Finals Day on Saturday. The tennis was high quality, enjoyable to watch and played in a lovely spirit of friendly competition, and everyone was sustained by our fantastic barbecue chef. Thank you to everyone who brought a dish or helped organise the event. The results were:

  • Ladies' Singles: Louise Field beat Stephanie Lee 6-2 6-3
  • Mens' Singles: Aaron Hotfelder beat Sean Fynn 6-4 6-7(6) [10-7]
  • Ladies' Doubles: Stephanie Lee & Sarah Lawrence-Taylor beat Handan Erek & Mojca Gabrovsek 6-1 6-3
  • Mens' Doubles: Kenneth Chan & Aaron Hotfelder beat Jim Collins & Sam West 6-4 6-1
  • Mixed Doubles: Sarah Lawrence-Taylor & Ed Frain beat Alison Easton & Brendan Smyth 6-2 6-4

Sign-up for our Winter Doubles tournaments opens this week so keep an eye on your email to join in!

More photographs of the festivities are available on our Facebook page.

Our annual Club Championships culminates with Finals Day, this year on Saturday 3rd September. Come and watch some great tennis, support your friends and relax with some drinks (BYO) and buffet food.

The first match will begin promptly at 11am, and will again this year be officiated by LTA-supplied Umpires. The Order of Play will be published nearer the time once all the finalists have been confirmed.

There will be a barbecue during the afternoon, £5 or bring a food donation (sweet or savoury), and BYO drinks. If you fancy playing a social set as well as watching, social tennis will be available on courts 4 & 5 but please note that courts 1–3 will not be available for play during the finals.

We hope you can join us for what is always a tennis and social highlight of the Club calendar–for a taste of the afternoon, check out the photos from last year.

José and the coaching team will be running their usual Junior tennis camps the first week of the school holidays (25-29th July), times dependent on age. Click here to see full details and to sign up online

Following the success of a post-lockdown adult camp last year, the week after (1st-5th August), José will be running a special Adult Camp from 10am-12noon each day. You can sign up for the whole week, or just individual sessions–whatever fits your schedule! For more details contact José via email or sign-up online using these links:

Would you like to try out some new or different tennis racquets while also getting tips on how to improve your Doubles Play? If so, join us on Sunday 3rd July at 1:30pm for a free 90 minute Dunlop Racquets and Doubles Clinic with Marc Codling and our very own head coach, José. There will be the usual social tennis sets after the session to allow you to practice what you have learned.

Places are limited so sign-up is essential. (Please use the same ClubSpark login as your membership.) Please note that this replaces the July coach-led social session which would have normally taken place the previous day. Coach-led social takes a break for the summer holidays and will return in the Autumn.

To celebrate the Bank Holiday weekend we will be hosting a fun and social tournament on Sunday 5th June from 2pm until about 5pm. There are just 24 places available and previous events have sold out so please sign up online using your ClubSpark account by 6pm on Thursday so we can do a draw.

The theme this time will be the Platinum Jubilee so please bring a cake or other Jubilee-themed food to share, and of course a refreshing beverage (you can store these in the clubhouse fridges during the tennis). Union Flag coloured tennis clothes are also encouraged; regal headwear optional!

An American tournament is a fun way to play doubles with a variety of different partners and opponents over the course of an afternoon. Each player keeps track of the number of individual games he or she has won in each set and the winner is the person who has won the most games at the end of the day. It is a great introduction to social tennis for newcomers to the club, or those improvers who want to try out their new skills at a club session. For regular club social players it is a fun alternative to the usual tennis format.

Huge congratulations to the winners of our Winter Doubles competitions. We hope all participants enjoyed their matches and we look forward to more friendly competition in the Club Championships which will be starting in the next few weeks.
