We had a brilliant day of tennis and fun at our Finals Day—it was fantastic to be able to have a proper social event again. There was some high quality tennis on display, and spectators and players were fuelled by an amazing spread of delicious food—a huge thank you to all the people who prepared the food, barbecued and cleared up. This year all matches were umpired by LTA-qualified officials, a new innovation which gave gave the contests some extra spectacle. The results were:

  • Aaron Hotfelder beat Jim Collins: 6-3 6-1
  • Louise Field beat Stephanie Lee: 6-3 6-3
  • Aaron Hotfelder & K. Raviendrakumar beat Matt Godfrey & Warren De Villiers: 7-5 6-1
  • Sarah Lawrence-Taylor & Liz Maclean beat Alison Easton & Louise Field: 3-6 6-1 [10-4]
  • Neville & Antonina Attwood beat Matt Godfrey & Martine Pereira: 6-4 7-5

Sign-up for our Winter Doubles tournaments opens this week so keep an eye on your email to join in the fun!

After some close-fought matches throughout the summer, the Club Championships culminates with Finals Day. Come and watch some great tennis, support your friends and relax with some drinks (BYO) and buffet food.

The first match, the Mens Singles Final, will begin at 11am, followed by the Ladies Singles, Mens Doubles, Ladies Doubles and culminating with the Mixed Doubles. For the first time this year, we have arranged through the LTA to have a qualified Umpire in the chair for all 5 matches!

There will be a barbecue during the afternoon, £5 or bring a food donation (sweet or savoury!) BYO drinks. If you fancy playing a social set as well as watching, social tennis will be available on courts 4 & 5 but please note that courts 1–3 will not be available for play during the finals.

We hope you can join us for what is always a tennis and social highlight of the Club calendar.
