Tennis will recommence at 2.30, weather permitting.
The first match has been stopped with Saidhanya currently winning one set to love against Nicky.
The order of play is:
- Ladies Singles
- Mens Singles
- Ladies Doubles
- Mens Doubles
- Mixed Doubles
RPRLTC 4 - 0 David Lloyd Raynes Park III
Another good victory for the 1st team in a match that was a lot tougher than the scoreline suggests. Well done to Dishan, Steve, David and Sean.
May 8: Div W East: Grafton (4ths) 1 - 3 Raynes Park (2nds - Nev,Peter,Antony,Adam)
A tight dramatic match, which could have gone either way, was won by RP when Antony and Adam won the last match in a deciding Championship tiebreak. Earlier Nev and Peter won both their matches. Well done all.
RPRLTC 4 - Downs 0
Congratulations to the mens 1st who started the summer season with a convincing 4-0 win over Downs (from the Cheam area).
Lets hope this is the first victory of many this season.
Sarah & Neville won 6-2, 6-2 vs Lucy & Steven
One black eye, a dodgy calf , broken strings and some good tennis were served up to several hardy spectators on Monday night. Despite Lucy's warming up accident and Steve's calf strain, they put up a spirited performance but in the end Sarah and Neville prevailed, the key moment being Sarah's game-winning string-busting volley mid way through the second set!
Many thanks to Sarah for organising a successful tournament and to all it's participants.
Banstead Downs 1 - RPRLTC 3 (Neville, Peter, Axel,Antony)
The Men's 2nds finished the Winter Season on a high note with a excellent win against Banstead Downs.
This completes a successful campaign in the Surrey Division Y West with 4 wins out of 5.
Ashtead 1 - RPRLT 3
An hour's effort to de-ice the Ashtead courts with brooms, hot water and salt was all worthwhile as the 2nd team (Axel,Peter,Anthony and myself) won a closely contested match.
Well played all
Congratulations to the mens second team who achieved a fine 3-1 victory over Dulwich in their inaugural Home Match on Sunday 20th June.
Mens 1 played St. Pauls away & managed to come away with a 3-1 win. Thanks Jacek for ferrying most of the team to the venue & thank you Steven for being Captain for the day. Well done all!
Dishan & David were the rest of the team, they obviously don't need me.
The next open day will be on the first Sunday in September, from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. Anyone who may be interested in joining the Tennis Club is welcome to come along. Bring a racquet and suitable tennis shoes, and you are welcome to have a game, with no obligation.
