It is a busy time of year so here are a few important upcoming dates and events for your diary:

  • Sunday 17th December: last date to play matches in the current round of the Singles Box League.
  • Saturday 30th December: American Social at 1:30pm. Look out for the sign up sheet in the club house.
  • Sunday 31st December: last date to play first round matches in the Winter Handicap and Plate Doubles tournaments.

Also, opt-in for the Wimbledon tickets ballot is also now open! To qualify for a chance to buy tickets for next year's Championships at the AELTC you need to login to the LTA members area and select the Wimbledon Ballot option. Even if you did this last year you must do it again this year to qualify. Juniors over 8 are also eligible but each one must be opted-in individually. Not an LTA member? As a member of an affiliated venue you can join for free. The LTA make the paid-for option far more prominent than the free one so make sure you select "Lite Membership" [sic].

New from Monday 16th October!

Summer might be over but the tennis doesn't stop! Drills & Skills is a new course for adults to develop your talents and unwind after another one of those crazy Mondays.  Starting on Monday 16th October for 8 weeks,  sessions run 8:15-9:15pm, directly after cardio tennis. The price is just £80 for members so sign up online today!

The evenings may be drawing in but that doesn't stop Wednesday evening social tennis! The club provides free floodlighting for social sessions and this Wednesday (11th Oct) we are running a fun and social tournament followed by drinks and nibbles.

The format is Fast4 Davis Cup – players will be divided into two teams who will then play each other over multiple rounds of singles and doubles. Team Captains will be chosen at 7pm but don't worry about being late – turn up whenever you can and you can join the next round!

Ladies Champion: Nicky!

We had a lovely day for Finals Day with some fantastic weather to match the high quality tennis. In the Ladies Singles, Nicky defeated defending champion, Louise. This year's Men's Champion is Arunan who beat Alex 6-4 6-2 in a very competitive match.

Then in the Ladies Doubles, Lizanne and Nicky were victorious over Handan and Liz 6-1, 6-4.

We hope everyone who participated enjoyed their matches and don't forget to sign up in the club house for the Winter Competitions!

Saturday (2nd September) is our annual Finals Day event and barbecue. The first match is the Ladies Singles final at 10am and the barbecue will be running all afternoon. Barbecue is £5 or a contribution to the buffet and BYO drinks.

Volunteers to umpire matches also welcome!

Also... Cardio Tennis returns on Monday @ 7.15! You now book in advance to receive a small discount per session. Free trial for newcomers and non-members welcome.

Join us on Bank Holiday Monday 28th August for some fun and social tennis.

An American tournament is a fun way to play doubles with a variety of different partners and opponents over the course of an afternoon. Each player keeps their track of the number of individual games he or she has won in each set and the nominal winner is the person who has won the most games at the end of the day. It is a great introduction to social tennis for newcomers to the club, or those improvers who want to try out their new skills at a club session. For regular club players it is a fun alternative to the usual tennis format.

While we will try to accommodate everyone on the day, spaces are limited so please do sign up in the club house to secure your place.

Arrive 1:30pm to warm up for a 2pm start.

See and hear more about our club from our coaches, members and team Captains in this short video we made during a recent Open Day.
